Why roll a random move?
Hundreds of moves, and battles are won by the weird ones. Roll a random move, see a Pokémon that learns it, and ask the only question that matters: could this actually work?
Ways to play
Moveset roulette
Roll four moves and make a set out of them — Splash and all. The best players make anything look playable.
Draft constraint
Roll a move, then draft a team where someone has to run it — support moves get their moment for once.
Learn the library
Power, accuracy, effect — read the rolled move before you check. Move knowledge is free Elo.
Battle prompt
Roll a move and design the situation where it wins you the game — theorycrafting with a seed.
Set your rules before you roll
For moveset roulette, no swaps: four rolls, one set, and status moves count. The constraint is the whole game.
Agree whether Z-moves, Max moves and signature moves are in the pool before anyone rolls — house rules prevent sulking.
A move is only as good as its user, so judge the pair, not the move alone.
A sample roll
The dice hand you Belch — a 120-power Poison move that only works after eating a Berry. Useless? Then you notice who learns it, and suddenly there's a Berry-juice set living rent-free in your head all week.
Finish the set?
Round it out with the ability generator or stats generator — then take the whole thing to Showdown.
FAQ
What is a random move generator?
Every roll picks one Pokémon move at random from the full move pool across all generations and shows its type, category, power, accuracy, PP and effect text.
Which moves are included?
The pool covers standard level-up, TM, TR and egg moves from every generation. Gimmick-only moves such as Z-Moves and Max Moves are left out because they don't exist in regular movesets.
How do I use a rolled move?
Use the copy button to drop it into a Showdown set, or roll a few and build a moveset around them as a teambuilding challenge.
Is PokeRoll free?
Yes — free, no sign-up and no download, like every generator on the site.
